Alyssa was born and raised in Estevan, Saskatchewan.  Growing up she was always involved in multiple sports such as volleyball and snowboarding.  Alyssa having a passion for sports, strong desire to help others and a keen interest in health, physiotherapy was a natural fit for her.

Alyssa started her post secondary education journey at UBCO and finished her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan in 2012.  Moving back to Kelowna, she found it difficult to get work in her field. She enrolled at Okanagan College in the Therapist Assistant Program. This became her stepping stone to the Masters of Physical Therapy program at the University of Saskatchewan.

Alyssa graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with her Masters in Physical Therapy in 2018.  Her and her husband, Jeff, moved back to Kelowna and started putting down roots. They now have a 3 year old named Ryker and another little boy on the way, due summer 2024.

Alyssa started working at Kelowna General Hospital after graduation.  This has given her a lot of different experiences working on various units.  She currently works on the trauma, orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery ward.

She has found a passion working with those clients post operatively, such as after having a total hip or knee replacement. As well as working with people that have suffered a hip fracture, multiple traumas or laminectomies (spinal surgeries).

Alyssa also has experience in paediatrics as well as certification in RockTape kinesio taping, vestibular rehabilitation and dry needling. She is looking forward to completing more training to advance her manual therapy skills upon return from maternity leave.
